Ruggero Pintus

Ruggero Pintus is a researcher in the Visual Computing (ViC) group at the Center for Advanced Studies, Research, and Development in Sardinia (CRS4). He holds a Laurea (M.Sc., 2003) and a Ph.D. degree (2007) in Electronics Engineering from the University of Cagliari, Italy. His research initially focused on Photometric Stereo and Shape from Shading techniques applied to the optical domain and to the SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope). In 2007 he has applied his research on photometric stereo techniques to flatbed scanners at the HP labs in Palo Alto. In 2008, he worked in the 3D Model Laboratory (Sardegna Ricerche) on acquisition of real-world objects, particularly in the Cultural Heritage field, using 3D laser scanners. His research is currently focusing on acquisition, processing, and rendering of large 3D models.
