The development of sustainable tourism, integrated with soft mobility and intermodality, represents a prospect of socio-economic growth for the entire cross-border area. The presence of protected natural areas, cultural and archaeological assets represents the added value of territories of Tuscany, Liguria, PACA, Corsica and Sardinia.
The common challenge faced jointly consists of the identification and integrated management of a system of sustainable tourist itineraries, covering all the territories of the area partners without interruption, in particular by promoting cycling and hiking tourism.
The general objective is to to increase the number of tourists and the presence during the year in the cross-border area, through a management plan of the sustainable tourist route. The route will be identified (feasibility study), standards (technical documents), the joint promotion actions and instruments for unitary management (agreements, integrated plans, permanent tables).
The expected results are a greater collaboration between PA, a greater diversification of the tourist presence, an implementation of the the integration of tourism and intermodal services, greater involvement of SMEs in the tourism sector, greater involvement of collaboration between PA and SMEs, the creation of business networks/local and cross-border competitions for the performance and management of services, greater involvement of the local population and tourists also in the identification of new thematic routes in their sharing through ICT tools.
