September 2020: Physical Review Applied publishes the article "Seismic Imaging Method for Medical Ultrasound Systems" where the CRS4 Imaging and Numerical Geophysics group successfully validates the idea of applying an undulatory method of reflection seismics to the biomedical field.
The new algorithm considerably improves the resolution of ultrasound images, thanks to a more complex mathematical model that is closer to the physical reality than those implemented so far in conventional ultrasound systems.
Laboratory tests reveal a remarkable spatial resolution and an extremely accurate positioning of the illuminated structures.
