The closing meeting of the project "SARIM - Sardegna Immersiva: new languages for the island's tourism promotion" will be held on Wednesday 10th.
The project experimented with immersive virtual reality technologies, spherical photography and 360-degree video in the field of tourism for the promotion of destinations, events and itineraries.
By means of a dedicated application that simplifies the creation of virtual itineraries, we have created 3D models for immersive reality. These models include, among others, the Church of San Simplicio and Pedrese Castle in Olbia, the village of Aggius and the Basilica of Saccargia.
In addition, we have created an interactive interface of Sardinia that allows you to choose on a multitouch panel the tourist sites of the island: the Temple of Antas, the Domus de Janas of Pimentel, the megalithic circle of Pranu Mutteddu, the giants' graves Sa Domu e s'orcu and S'Ena e Thomes, the nuragic holy well of Santa Cristina, the nuraghes Losa, Santa Barbara and Nieddu. In airports, information points, fairs and accommodation facilities, tourists can explore these sites through VR visors.
The joint use of VR visors and the Icaros gyroscopic base made it possible to experiment with "immersive flight" applications capable of offering a sensation of free flight over Sardinia, allowing the exploration of historical monuments from an unusual point of view.
"SARIM - Sardegna Immersiva: new languages for the island's tourism promotion" is a top-down cluster project, funded by Sardegna Ricerche with POR FESR Sardegna 2014-2020 funds. Participating enterprises have acquired skills on the design, creation and use of immersive content, applicable to their business models to develop new products and services.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 10, from 10:00 a.m., (public meeting: http://s.crs4.it/H1 passcode: 416761) in virtual mode.
Speakers at the event: Massimo Deriu, CRS4 researcher and scientific head of the project; Nevina Satta, director of the Fondazione Sardegna Film Commission; Andrea Dresseno, of the cultural association Italian Videogame Program; and Dario Carbini for Sardegna Ricerche.
