Giacomo Cao, CRS4's sole administrator, on behalf of the entire Sardinian research center, expressed his warmest congratulations to the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team for the excellent result achieved: "CRS4 is proud to have contributed through its expertise to the preparation of Luna Rossa for the America's Cup 2021. We hope that Cagliari and Sardinia will in the future be the venue for sailing competitions of national and international importance". CRS4 and Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team have been collaborating for six years now, and in particular in the last two years they have been working within the framework of a joint research and development project, financed with FSC 2014-2020 resources - "Patto per lo Sviluppo della Regione Sardegna", thanks to which, the sailing team has been able to test some of CRS4's emerging technologies by adapting them to the needs of competitive sailing in order to improve their results during training for the America's Cup, a sporting event in which the most technologically advanced sailing boats in the world participate. CRS4 researchers brought their experience and technological expertise to bear in the following areas: high performance computing, innovative broadband networks for widespread connectivity on a geographical scale, sensors, radio infrastructure for data transmission for real-time visualisation of boat monitoring during the competition.
