The Physics Department opens its doors to students for the presentation of research activities carried out by its research groups and by other research groups working in related fields. This year will also partecipate the Chemistry Department, the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF), the National Research Council (CNR-IOM) and the Center for Advanced Studies, Research and Development in Sardinia (CRS4). The poster presentations (40) will be on display throughout the week. On the afternoon of March 5th the posters will be presented to students by the researchers carrying out the research activities.
The TDM (Tessuto Digitale Metropolitano) poster illustrates the OR4 application related to short-range weather forecasting (nowcasting) for the metropolitan area of Cagliari to improve the safety of citizens from extreme events, such as heat waves and heavy rainfall. The research activities are carried out in collaboration with the University of Cagliari.
Among the objectives of the project TDM is the experimentation of new smart solutions for the protection from environmental risks and the energy awareness and efficiency, in order to improve the attractiveness of the city, resource management, safety and quality of life of citizens. TDM is a collaborative project funded by the regional agency Sardegna Ricerche (POR FESR 2014-2020, Azione 1.2.2).
