Health Gateway pilot study
The possibility for an individual of defining modalities, rules and locations for data collection, sharing and usage is a powerful enabler for patient-empowerment and personalized medicine. State-of-the-art technology is ready to support data ecosystems where people have a complete control of their health information, but this paradigm requires the creation of models and tools ensuring security and scalability and handling the ethical, legal and social implications connected to data consent and management, from acquisition to destination.
The Health Gateway Project is a pilot study devoted to the creation of best-practices, from a technical and a legal point of view, to enable automatic clinical data transfers from public and private institutions to one or more repositories selected by a person. The prototype is a proof-of-concept for a system enabling the implementation of dynamic consent in a secure and scalable way.
