The second year of activities promoting STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) in kindergartens and the first and second grades of primary schools throughout Sardinia has also concluded positively.
The activities, which began in March of last year, have so far reached 243 schools (133 primary and 110 kindergartens) in 102 locations across the Sardinia, involving a total of 8,244 children aged 4 to 7 in fun experiments discovering science.
Teachers have given very favorable feedback, noting that through experiments and educational games, children's curiosity is not only stimulated, but they also develop an approach to asking thoughtful questions.
Giacomo Cao, sole administrator of CRS4, commented: "Thanks to our Andrea Mameli, we conclude the second cycle of STEM outreach activities in that age group where young children are extremely receptive to grasping elements of innovation that might be lost at an older age." Cao continued: "We will continue these activities in the next school year, and in the meantime, we have already extended the initiative to the elderly and will soon proceed in penitentiary institutions, including juvenile facilities, always in synergy with all the entities involved in outreach activities in these sectors."
