Il CRS4 al FestivalScienza di Cagliari 2025

Andrea Mameli e Marino Marrocu al FestivalScienza Cagliari 2025

Research, development and education in the weave of knowledge

The 2025 edition of the Cagliari FestivalScienza successfully concluded, dedicated to the theme “Tramas – the weave of knowledge.”
For an entire week, the city came alive with meetings, workshops and lectures for students, teachers and science enthusiasts.

CRS4 returned to the Cagliari FestivalScienza, renewing its commitment to science outreach with two contributions that combine research, development and education in STEM disciplines.

Marino Marrocu, researcher in the Visual and Data-Intensive Computing sector, delivered the lecture “From Torricelli’s Tube to Artificial Intelligence”, a journey through the fundamental principles of physics and their modern digital applications, showing how the evolution of scientific knowledge continues to shape our way of observing and interpreting the world.
His talk offered insights into the relationship between physical–mathematical models and artificial intelligence, highlighting the role of interdisciplinary research in the development of future technologies.

Andrea Mameli, science communicator at CRS4, took part with the lecture “Sardinia at Science on Stage”, bringing to the Festival audience his experience at the European event Science on Stage, held in Rovereto.
In his presentation, Mameli illustrated a STEM outreach project he designed to introduce preschool and primary school children to science through creative, hands-on activities — an opportunity to underline the importance of an educational approach capable of fostering scientific curiosity from an early age.

During the Festival, CRS4 also promoted the RIALE-EU project, funded by regional resources and dedicated to enabling remote access to real scientific laboratories, involving research institutions from Italy and other European countries.
Thanks to the collaboration with the organisers, it was possible to distribute informational material about the project to the attending teachers.

Participation in the FestivalScienza confirms CRS4’s ongoing commitment to promoting scientific culture and building bridges between research and society, combining laboratory experience, education and technological development.

CRS4 thanks the organisers of the Cagliari FestivalScienza for the invitation and for the opportunity to share with students and teachers the value of research and science outreach in Sardinia.
