First review of CRS4’s science outreach activities in the Island’s primary and preschools

Activities to popularize a hands-on approach to STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines, launched by CRS4 on March 13, 2023 in preschools and elementary school throughout Sardinia, continue unabated.
In three months, we reached 56 schools, in 31 municipalities, involving a total of 2077 girls and boys in fun experiments to discover science.

With this popularization activity dedicated to young children, CRS4 aims to pursue the following objectives: to satisfy the natural thirst for knowledge of little girls and boys; to motivate them to pursue the discovery of the world through the scientific method; to introduce them with a playful approach to computer science; to develop awareness of their attitude toward the scientific approach; and to counter stereotypes and prejudices that can lead to gender discrimination with respect to scientific careers.

The initiative will restart in September and will aim to involve about 6,000 girls and boys in 90 municipalities in Sardinia in the 2023-2024 school year.
