CRS4 at HiPEAC 2026 with contributions on HPC, Quantum Computing and smart cities

Giuliana Siddi Moreau hipeac 2026

CRS4 takes part in HiPEAC 2026, one of Europe’s leading conferences on advanced computing architectures, with three scientific contributions presented by Giuliana Siddi Moreau.

The contributions address the integration of High Performance Computing (HPC) and Quantum Computing (QC) for real-world applications, with a particular focus on intelligent traffic and fleet management in smart city contexts, the development of hybrid workflows for combinatorial optimization, and the role of exascale platforms in the development and validation of quantum algorithms.

The presentations showcase results and approaches developed within several CRS4 research and technology transfer initiatives. These include systematic evaluations of quantum computing paradigms and HPC–QC integration strategies carried out within the Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti – Cagliari Digital Lab project, funded by the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT), which brings together universities, SMEs, telecommunications operators and local administrations to develop quantum applications for urban environments.

The contributions also highlight the importance of a holistic approach to next-generation computing systems, where HPC and exascale resources play a key role in data preparation, problem formulation, benchmarking and solution validation, while quantum methods are explored as complementary components for specific classes of problems.

CRS4’s participation in HiPEAC 2026 confirms the Centre’s commitment to research on emerging computing technologies and to the transfer of advanced solutions towards concrete applications, contributing to the European scientific debate on the evolution of HPC and quantum ecosystems.
