Alessandro Sulis will lead the committee meeting in Graz, reaffirming CRS4’s commitment to the development of international guidelines within the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) consortium.
From June 16 to 18, Graz (Austria) will host the Face2Face meeting of the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PaLM) Technical Committee of Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE), the international organization that brings together experts and representatives from leading institutions to develop guidelines and standards for data management in healthcare processes. As dedicated working sessions involving the key stakeholders in the field, Face2Face meetings represent a crucial stage in the development cycle of the IHE Technical Frameworks. These technical specifications are developed by clinicians, IT specialists, researchers, and industry representatives to ensure the correct exchange of data generated throughout the patient care pathway, supporting accurate diagnosis and the identification of the most appropriate therapeutic strategies.
For more than fifteen years, CRS4 has actively contributed to major international healthcare standardization initiatives, including IHE, openEHR, HL7, and ISO, promoting state-of-the-art interoperable approaches that enhance the quality and sustainability of healthcare services.
Alessandro Sulis, from the Visual and Data-intensive Computing sector at CRS4, serves as Technical Co-Chair of the PaLM Technical Committee and coordinates its activities at the international level. The main topics addressed during the meeting will include laboratory information system integration, biological specimen traceability, and digital pathology. Regarding the latter, a joint working session is planned with leading international experts in the field, who will also be in Graz to attend the European Congress on Digital Pathology (ECDP 2026) taking place during the same period.
The coordination and guideline development activities are carried out within the framework of the ToPMa project (Intervention RP_CRP_077, FSC 2014–2020 – Development Pact of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia) and the XDATA project (funded under Article 9 of Regional Law 20/2015, Autonomous Region of Sardinia, Institutional Project).
