The project aims at setting up an advanced cyberinfrastructure based on dedicated optical networks to support collaborative research application. The aim of Cybersar computational infrastructure is to support innovative computational applications by using leading edge hardware and technological solutions and to provide an experimental platform for research on the enabling technologies that will power next generation cyberinfrastructures.
Research activities are organized into 13 workpackages. CRS4 is directly involved in 7 WP:
- Network of centers of high performance computing, integrated in a Grid infrastructure [Gianluigi Zanetti],
- Photonic metacomputers [Gianluigi Zanetti],
- Prediction of extreme weather events based on statistical ensamble techniques ensemble [Ernesto Bonomi/Marino Marrocu],
- Inversion of seismic data for massively parallel in depth imaging [Ernesto Bonomi],
- Immersive exploration of scientific and engineering 3D datasets on very large scale displays [Enrico Gobbetti],
- Simulation modeling and design in process engineering and production [Giacomo Cao],
- Simulation modeling in spatial planning, and environmental services [Giovanni Sechi/Giuditta Lecca].
