The CRS4, in collaboration with QItaly, is organising a public outreach event on quantum technologies developed within the DLAB | Cagliari Digital Lab project.
The event will take place on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., in the event hall of the former Distilleria di Pirri (via André Marie Ampère, 4 – Cagliari).
The programme includes a live demonstration of the Portable NMR Quantum Computer, an innovative quantum device recently acquired for the project’s laboratories. This next-generation technology enables participants to experience firsthand the principles of quantum computing, promoting the dissemination of scientific culture in a field that is currently attracting growing global interest.
The seminar is part of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology and will provide an open forum to explore the potential of quantum technologies and the opportunities they offer to public bodies, enterprises, and professionals.
The event will open with a roundtable discussion on the applications and challenges of quantum computing, featuring Giuliana Siddi Moreau and Lidia Leoni from CRS4, who will present the Centre’s activities in the field of quantum technologies and the resources of the dedicated laboratory housed within the Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti di Cagliari.
A scientific outreach session will follow, led by CRS4 researchers Lorenzo Pisani, Manuela Profir, and Maria Laura Clemente, in collaboration with QItaly and QWorld. The session will focus on the operating principles of the Portable NMR Quantum Computer and on training and mentoring opportunities promoted through international networks.
The final part of the event will be devoted to a live demonstration of the Portable NMR Quantum Computer, with a brief simulation of its use to show how quantum operations are performed in practice and what skills are needed to approach this new technological frontier.
The initiative is part of the DLAB | Cagliari Digital Lab project, led by the Municipality of Cagliari in partnership with Abinsula, Artes 4.0, Cyber 4.0, GreenShare, TIM, the University of Cagliari, WiData, and WindTre, and funded by MIMIT through FSC 2014–2020 resources.
Participation is free, and the event will also be available online.
