SOCIOTAL is an EU FP7 funded STREP project addressing the objective  FP7-ICT-2013.1.4 “A reliable, smart and secure Internet of Things for  Smart Cities” and more specifically sub-objective a) “A reliable and  secure Internet of Things”.  The consortium is led by societal values  and brings together 10 partners, 4 higher education institutions, 2  research institutions, 2 SMEs and 2 municipalities from 6 European  countries: UK, Spain, Italy, Serbia, Netherlands and France, as well as a  partner from Australia.
SOCIOTAL aims to design and provide key enablers for a reliable, secure  and trusted IoT environment that will enable creation of a socially  aware citizen-centric Internet of Things by encouraging people to  contribute their IoT devices and information flows. It will provide the  techno-social foundations to unlock billions of new IoT information  streams taking a citizen-centric IoT approach towards creation of  large-scale IoT solutions of interest to the society. By equipping  communities with secure and trusted tools that increase user confidence  in IoT environment, SOCIOTAL will enable their transition to smart  neighbourhood, communities and cities.
