In 2020 CRS4 participated in the DIMASDIA-COVID19 project. One of the activities aimed at diagnosing COVID19 by means of lung X-ray analysis. Deep learning AI was able to classify lung X-rays with a good degree of accuracy, distinguishing between bacterial, non-Covid and Covid viral pneumonia.
Another area of application was the classification of heart failure using time sequences of ultrasound images. In this case too, the degree of accuracy achieved was quite high.
The system has been developed with Neosperience SpA, Mikamai Srl, Looptribe Srl, in collaboration with the Sacco Hospital in Milan and the Auxologico Research Hospital, with funding from the Lombardy Region, the European Regional Development Fund and the Veronesi Institute.
