The second plenary meeting of the European project EXCALIBUR will take place on April 23–24, 2026, in Sant’Antioco, Sardinia (Italy).
The project is part of the ECHOES initiative, which contributes to the development of a European research infrastructure for cultural heritage. EXCALIBUR focuses in particular on the documentation and analysis of burial sites, archaeological excavations, artifacts, and human remains.
The meeting, organized by the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio for the Metropolitan City of Cagliari and the provinces of Oristano and South Sardinia, will bring together 14 project partners from 7 European countries.
CRS4 contributes to the project through researchers from the Visual and Data-intensive Computing sector. During the meeting, Ruggero Pintus will present the first results on the development of innovative techniques for in situ measurement of shape and color, based on fast, easy-to-use, and low-cost solutions.
The activities will focus in particular on Use Case 2 of the project, dedicated to the Is Pirixeddus necropolis (Sant’Antioco), with a focus on the so-called “Tomb of the Egyptian”.
