A Scientific Collaboration Agreement Signed Between the RaCIS Carabinieri and CRS4: Exploring New Frontiers in Forensic Sciences Through Genetics, Artificial Intelligence, and 3D Technology.

The Carabinieri Scientific Investigations Unit (RaCIS) and the Center for Advanced Studies, Research, and Development in Sardinia (CRS4) have formalized a significant three-year scientific and educational collaboration agreement. The partnership aims to enhance investigative and research tools within the field of forensic sciences.

This agreement, designed to foster research activities and disseminate increasingly specialized expertise, seeks to establish a synergistic relationship between the Carabinieri’s well-established investigative capabilities and CRS4’s cutting-edge applied research technologies.

Key areas of focus include genetics, artificial intelligence, and 3D reconstruction technologies, which are becoming increasingly essential in scientific investigations.

As part of this collaboration, CRS4 will provide RaCIS with access to its state-of-the-art sequencing platform, supported by sophisticated bioinformatics analyses. Special emphasis will be placed on the use of artificial intelligence, 3D visualization, and reconstruction of crime scene data to make forensic reconstruction activities faster and more effective.

The agreement also outlines joint research initiatives, collaborative publication of scientific articles, expert exchanges for training activities, and reciprocal use of laboratories, equipment, and suitable facilities for carrying out the planned activities.

CRS4’s Sole Administrator, Giacomo Cao, expressed his enthusiasm, stating:
“We are extremely pleased to have finalized this important agreement, which will enable fruitful interaction between CRS4 and RaCIS. We are confident that this collaboration will allow us to tackle highly relevant and complex topics, yielding significant benefits at the local, scientific, and operational levels.”

This agreement aligns with the Carabinieri’s ongoing commitment to leveraging scientific research and technological innovation as fundamental tools for advancing investigative activities and safeguarding public safety.
