The IPOACUSIA 3 “Partecipare.New communication methodologies for deaf people” project aims to build on and consolidate the results of previous initiatives (IPOACUSIA, IPOACUSIA 2), making practical services available to a wider audience, in particular deaf people and public sector staff.
The main objective is to develop an artificial intelligence-based platform for the real-time automatic translation of Italian Sign Language (LIS), accessible via digital devices (computers, smartphones, tablets and wearables). The aim is to reduce communication barriers between deaf citizens and public services.
The project plans to enhance an existing prototype platform, improving its performance, scalability and reliability for simultaneous use by multiple users. This includes real-world testing, functional verification and software optimisation, with a particular focus on the system’s robustness.
In parallel, communication and stakeholder engagement activities are planned to facilitate the dissemination of the developed solutions and promote accessibility to public administration services.
