The SCA group aims to advance the scalability of the processes involved in collecting, processing, analyzing and managing large quantities of data at rest and large data streams. These activities are centered around the advancement and the application of state-of-the-art techniques in distributed computing, automation, and applied machine learning, all of which are combined to improve the methods to collect and exploit available data in a reproducible way. While our work is transversal and applicable to many domains, we are particularly active in the fields of urban computing, bioinformatics and health informatics, especially thanks to the synergies with other groups in the ViDiC sector and our many external collaborations.
