- Climate and meteorological data analysis and modelling applications
- Information Systems and modelling for inland and marine water management
- Modelling and geochemical data analysis for groundwater resources management
The main environmental issue addressed is the integrated water cycle at the catchment's/regional/continental scale and the impact of anthropogenic and natural stresses (e.g. land use, climate change, etc.) on the quality and quantity state of the environment (water and soil). The main area of research is the development of web based innovative decision support and management systems based on numerical tools (such as SWAT, GETM, etc.) and GIS/DB technologies. Through the development, adaptation and use of state of the art technologies we aim at building innovative, reliable, complex environmental tools for data manipulation and analysis. The major fields of application of such modelling service oriented architecture entail the scientific and technical support to the territorial planning and management of water and soil resources at the catchment's scale and for coastal marine water management.
