The IPOACUSIA project: "Innovating, informing, participating - new methods for communicating people with hearing loss", started from the collaboration among the Department of Hygiene and Health and Social Assistance of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the regional agency Sardegna Ricerche and CRS4, is ranked in the first position by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and is aimed to promote the social inclusion of deaf people and people with hearing loss. The goal of IPOACUSIA project is to develop technologies and methods to reduce communication barriers between public administration staff, and deaf and hearing impaired people, in order to improve their accessibility to public services. In particular, the foreseen activity will be implemented through innovative ICT tools thus promoting the dissemination of automatic interpreting services of the Italian sign language (LIS) or technologies capable to transform automatically verbal expression into text, also through support of wearable mobile devices and modern smartphones. Specifically, CRS4 will be involved in the development of the cloud platform and implementation on mobile devices.
