CRS4 (Content Technologies & Information Management group) participates in the DIMASDIA-COVID19 project (development of a clinical image analysis model aiming to support medical diagnosis during COVID-19 pandemic), co-financed by the Lombardy Region and recently assessed as eligible for grant.
The aim of the project is to set up a prototype based on artificial intelligence able to analyze echocardiograms, lung ultrasound images and lung radiographic images of patients from the hospital departments of the partnership, in order to build a dataset useful for training machine learning models capable of diagnosing a COVID-19 pathology.
This research will create a diagnostic tool, useful for diagnosing patients in the pre-hospital phase, either at the patient's home or in the general practitioner's surgery.
The project was presented in response to the Lombardy Region research call "Measure to support the development of collaborations for the identification of therapies and diagnostic, protection and analysis systems to counter the Coronavirus emergency and other viral emergencies of the future" by a group of partners which includes, in addition to CRS4, the Sacco Hospital (leader), the Italian Auxological Institute, Mikamai srl and Looptribe srl.
