Cagliari 2020 will see also the active involvement of the Municipality of Cagliari and the CTM, the metropolitan public transport company.<br \/> The project faces the increasing need of tools and technological solutions that can enable the optimization of urban mobility: Cagliari and its metropolitan area represent an ideal case study for the development and experimentation in this scenario, especially due to a public transport management system that already operates at the cutting-edge of industry standards.<br \/> Through the acquisition of information coming from vehicles circulating in appropriate reference corridors and integrating it with people moving habits, a punctual representation of the urban mobility ecosystem can be obtained. The integration of environmental modeling with the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) developed under Cagliari 2020 will allow the optimization of public and private traffic flows in the urban area, together with pollutant emissions control and reduction.<br \/> The project aims to provide public organizations with a set of Decision Support Systems based on innovative models that will be developed within the project.
