{"id":12690,"date":"2025-07-03T18:18:27","date_gmt":"2025-07-03T16:18:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crs4.it\/projects\/arsinoe\/"},"modified":"2026-04-02T12:32:45","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T10:32:45","slug":"arsinoe","status":"publish","type":"projects","link":"https:\/\/www.crs4.it\/en\/projects\/arsinoe\/","title":{"rendered":"ARSINOE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Climate resilient \u2013 regions through solutions and innovations &#8211; Building a low \u2013 carbon, climate resilient future: Research and innovation in support of the European Green Deal.<br \/>\nSystems Innovation Approach (SIA) addresses the growing complexity, interdependencies and interconnectedness of modern societies and economies, focusing on the functions of the cross-sectoral system as a whole and on the variety of actors.\u00a0The Climate Innovation Window (CIW) is the EU reference innovations marketplace for climate adaptation technologies.<br \/>\nARSINOE shapes the pathways to resilience by bringing together SIA and CIW, to build an ecosystem for climate change adaptation solutions. Within the ARSINOE ecosystem, pathways to solutions are co-created and co-designed by stakeholders, who can then select either existing CIW technologies, or technologies by new providers (or a combination) to form an innovation package.<br \/>\nThis package may be designed for implementation to a specific region, but its building blocks are transferable and re-usable; they can be re-adapted and updated. In this way, the user (region) gets an innovation package consisting of validated technologies (expanding the market for CIW); new technologies implemented in the specific local innovation package get the opportunity to be validated and become CIW members, while the society (citizens, stakeholders ) benefits as a whole.<br \/>\nARSINOE applies a three-tier, approach:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>(a) using SIA it integrates multi-faceted technological, digital, business, governance and environmental aspects with social innovation for the development of adaptation pathways to climate change for specific regions;<\/li>\n<li>(b) it links with CIW to form innovation packages by matching innovators with end-users\/regions;<\/li>\n<li>(c) it fosters the ecosystem sustainability and growth with cross-fertilization and replication across regions and scales, at European level and beyond, using specific business models, exploitation and outreach actions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The ARSINOE approach is show-cased in nine widely varied demonstrators, as a proof-of-concept with regards to its applicability, replicability, potential and efficacy.<br \/>\nARSINOE Partners:\u00a0<a>https:\/\/arsinoe-project.eu\/meet-the-partners\/<\/a><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nAs part of the Sardinian test case (CS9), CRS4 is mainly contributing to the development of tools for the integrated processing of Sentinel-2 multispectral data, ERA5 meteorological reanalyses, probabilistic weather forecast data, and in situ measurements aimed at monitoring the growth potential of durum wheat and assessing the sustainability of different levels of deficit irrigation within the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) nexus. His research interests are related to           meteorological mesoscale ensemble prediction, climatic           modelling and environmental data analysis. Currently, between           the others, he is involved in the EU-H2020 Netfficient project for the           development of a energy production, from renewable sources,           forecasting system. Recently involved in the EU-FP7 CLIMB           project in which CRS4 evaluated and compared the skill of           various regional climate models as boundary conditions for           hydrological modelling scenario studies in the Mediterranean basin area. Within           the projects GRIDA3 and CYBERSAR, funded by the Italian           Research Ministry (MIUR), he was involved in setting up a           multi-model multianalysis limited area ensemble to be run on a           GRID infrastructure and\/or remote computing portals. Since 2000 she works as researcher at CRS4. Currently, she is working in the Environmental Sciences program since January 2006. Her interests are related to the application of numerical models and other computational tools to analize meteo and climatological data, the application of limited area models for the prediction of extreme events,  the implementation of ensemble prediction systems, the  Regional Climat Models downscaling. He works for two year as a mechanical engineer for a private company, designing special valves for refinery plants.  Since 1999 he works at CRS4, where he gains experience in mechanical simulation and in scientific programming on parallel machines. He is involved in several projects: the design of fission fragment space propulsion system for the Italian Space Agency, the design of several equipment of the LHC and other experiments for CERN, the simulation of elastic wave propagation in various fields, the design and simulation of a solar power system, among others.  In 2008 he works at CERN as a scientific associate developing simulation software for beam dump studies.
