Industries and utilities sharing the vision\u00a0of a competitive LFR of a small and medium-size with modular features will be attracted by the compressed deployment roadmap,\u00a0and will play a leverage role at national and European level, strengthening synergies and creating public\u2013private\u2013partnership\u00a0opportunities. In this context, the European community working on the LFR development and deployment assumed the\u00a0commitment, among others, to highlight the technical open issues and existing research infrastructures, aiming to support the R&amp;D\u00a0phase through European, national and in-kind contribution of the involved partners. The aim of the LESTO project is moving on along\u00a0the depicted roadmap, aiming at further developing the LFR technology, supporting the demonstration that LFRs can be designed,\u00a0sited, constructed, commissioned and operated in line with the requirements of the actual safety standards, with particular focus on\u00a0their safety features and passive safety systems. Along the project the most relevant facilities in Europe and UK will be adopted to\u00a0implement a large and very comprehensive experimental database for code validation, safety assessment and component\/system\u00a0demonstration. Among the others, it is worth to mention the large-scale pool type ATHENA facility, being commissioned in Romania,\u00a0the CIRCE pool in Italy, as well as MELECOR in UK. These facilities, with the support of research infrastructure in Belgium, Germany and\u00a0Sweden represent the state of art for the LFR R&amp;D. From 2010 to 2012, she was beneficiary of a grant for young researchers, co-funded by EU and RAS, at CRS4, developing a research project about the mesh morphing techniques in CFD simulation and analysis codes, with a geometric and topological approach. Since 2012, at CRS4 she has been applying the moving mesh methods    \t \t \t \tfor the simulation and testing of the passive insertion of the control rods system in the case of a reactor emergency shutdown, in the framework of the FP7 MAXSIMA research project. Since 2016, in the framework of the H2020 SESAME, PATRICIA, PASCAL and ANSELMUS projects, she has been performing CFD simulations and modelling of pool type experiments and new generation reactor conceptual design. In 1995, he works at ENEL-CRT of Pisa on two-phase flow simulation and modeling.  He arrives at CRS4 in 1996 where he works on fluid-structure interaction. Since 1997, he works in the ADS field, making CFD simulations and analysis, participating to the FP5 PDS-XADS, FP6 EUROTRANS, FP7 THINS, CDT, SEARCH and MAXSIMA, and H2020 PASCAL and PATRICIA European projects. Between 2002 and 2014, he also works occasionally on turbulent combustion simulation. From 2015 to 2019 still by means of CFD analysis, he contributes in the H2020 framework to the MYRTE project on high level waste transmutation and to the SESAME project on the criticalities of the liquid metal fluid-dynamics for applications to the clean nuclear power of the future.
