After that, he spent 4 years working for a research project (EU V FW IP) looking to understand the inclusion of visually impaired pupils in mainstream education. As side projects, he was involved in research on peer-to-peer systems and semantic distributed knowledge bases. In 2002, he started a collaboration with the UTC’s Heudiasyc laboratory. Since then, he has been conducting independent and collaborative research in information retrieval, ontology engineering and Web of Data. He has been continuing along the same path, while extending his work to the study of Sensor Networks and IoT. In 2015 he spent one month as Visiting Researcher within the Department of Advanced Robotics at the CIT (Chiba Institute of Technology) in Japan, and in 2016, within the Lincoln Centre for Autonomous Systems (L-CAS), University of Lincoln (United Kingdom), coducting research in the field of Semantic Sensor Networks and Robotics. In 2016 he applied for the Horizon 2020 Marie Curie Individual Fellowship call, in conjuction with the University of Lincoln. The proposal has been awarded the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Seal of Excellence. He is leading several industrial collaborations with local SME and start-ups. Lab work is a key aspect of scientific education and students can seldom access public and private labs of excellence. While several Erasmus+ projects and national initiatives have focused on digital L&T, our project is innovative in addressing a pedagogical framework (RIALHE) for lab training as a particular field. Despite providing scientific labs, many educational bodies lack the resources to meet the costs of reagents or maintenance. Digitising the hardware components of a Lab is complicated and costly. In the context of virtual labs, where the experiment is simulated, students face situations where aspects of the procedures remain hidden because simulations do not address contingencies or measurement errors. A lab operator needs to address such situations that are present in a real life experiment. Acquiring this ability is an important part of the learning process that is lost in the over-idealized virtual world. An innovative methodology, shared at European level, implies the elaboration of basic competencies including gaining familiarity with cutting edge lab equipment not necessarily accessible to all academic institutions.","post_title":"RIALHE Erasmus","post_excerpt":"","post_status":"publish","comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","post_password":"","post_name":"rialhe-erasmus","to_ping":"","pinged":"","post_modified":"2026-04-02 12:32:41","post_modified_gmt":"2026-04-02 10:32:41","post_content_filtered":"","post_parent":0,"guid":"https:\/\/www.crs4.it\/projects\/rialhe-erasmus\/","menu_order":0,"post_type":"projects","post_mime_type":"","comment_count":"0","filter":"raw"},{"ID":14976,"post_author":"4","post_date":"2025-07-03 18:19:43","post_date_gmt":"2025-07-03 16:19:43","post_content":"Remote Intelligent Access to Lab in Education NETwork - This project is extending the impact of WeNet with a new application, RIALENET, and testing a real use case scenario in the field of genome analysis (not developed neither tested within the WeNet project yet).
