Research Programs Digital Health\/Healthcare Flows). Her research activity spans the opportunities and problems arising from the application of computer science to medicine, working on interoperability, traceability, telemedicine and modelling of data and processes in the clinical context. In her 20 years of research experience she has cultivated ongoing collaborations with public and private organisations, including research institutions, hospitals and industries operating in the health IT sector, with particular attention to the direct application of research results in clinical practice. She holds a Ph.D. in Innovation Sciences and Technologies from the University of Cagliari and a degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Genoa. Her present research interests are mainly focused on the modelling of biomedical data and processes, with a particular attention to interoperability and traceability, also in the perspective of the application of the FAIR Principles. RD  research should be improved to overcome fragmentation, leading to  efficacious use of data and resources, faster scientific progress and  competitiveness, and most importantly to decrease unnecessary hardship  and prolonged suffering of RD patients.\nIn the specific context of the massive generation, need for reuse and  efficient interpretation of data, introduction of omics into care  practice and the structuration of RD care centers in European Reference  Networks, it appears crucial and timely to maximize the potential of  already funded tools and programmes by supporting them further, scaling  up, linking, and most importantly, adapting them to the needs of  end-users through implementation tests in real settings. The registry will gather references to resources and data collected in independent clinical trials conducted in Sardinia. The framework will be based on a set of innovative technologies  for real-time telemedicine developed by CRS4 and will provide the core technologies to enable the cluster participants to develop telemedicine applications  in various clinical contexts (cardiology, emergency\/urgency, emodynamics, etc). The purpose of this project is to share the skills and technologies  developed by CRS4 and the \u201ctelemedicine District-lab\u201d during the development of the REMOTE project, in order to encourage companies to invest  in a high impact sector for regional and extra-regional medical supply chain.  The project will focus on reengineering prototypes and tecnologies used in REMOTE project, on their abstraction and generalization for public releasing software modules and specific architectural solutions. The solutions can be used from cluster's companies as technical core for creating specific medical application based on real-time transmissions and collaborative analysis of audio\/video stream generated by medical devices. The modules will allow: - real-time recording and remote viewing of video and audio streams captured from heterogeneous medical devices; - the integration of a voice chat for real-time collaboration between multiple specialists or online training sessions; - the customization of a web application for managing patient and clinical data, remote teleconsultation and structured reporting of consultations. The code will be released under an open-source license and published online on one of the mostly used portals for source code sharing (GitHub, Sourceforge, etc..), allowing the growth of a community of users and contributors. Il Progetto include lo sviluppo di alcuni prototipi di  dispositivi medicali come etichettatrici automatiche di provette,  carrelli di reparto e biobanche robotizzate che consentiranno di aiutare  il personale clinico coinvolto nei processi precedentemente elencati.<br\/>Obiettivi:<br\/>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0  Linguaggi di modellazione. Studio dei linguaggi per la modellazione dei  processi coinvolti e loro utilizzo nel contesto clinico per la  creazione di modelli orientati alla tracciabilit\u00e0<br\/>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0  Interoperabilit\u00e0 per processi di laboratorio. Sviluppo e realizzazione  di strumenti per l\u2019interoperabilit\u00e0 di sistemi diversi e per  l\u2019inserimento di dispositivi per il prelievo nei contesti attuali delle  strutture sanitarie;<br\/>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nuovi modelli per la gestione di reparto.  Studio e modellazione di processi alla base della gestione di reparto,  per quello che riguarda la somministrazione dei farmaci e la connessione  col laboratorio analisi;<br\/>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nuovi modelli per la gestione dei  campioni biologici. Le zone a  maggior incidenza sono quelle interne e difficili da raggiungere, come  il Nuorese e l\u2019Ogliastra, aree che proprio per le loro caratteristiche  di isolamento beneficerebbero maggiormente della possibilit\u00e0 di  effettuare consulti a distanza, con il supporto remoto di specialisti in  tempo reale.\nIl  progetto intendeva definire un modello tecnologico ed organizzativo  finalizzato a far collaborare presidi sanitari geograficamente distanti  durante esami diagnostici, garantendo la visualizzazione in tempo reale  della scena dell\u2019esame e del video dell\u2019apparato diagnostico (in questo  caso un ecografo), oltre a permettere allo stesso tempo l\u2019interazione  vocale tra gli specialisti remoti.\nCome\u00a0 esperienza  concreta con cui guidare la ricerca, si \u00e8 scelto di creare all\u2019interno  del progetto un sistema sperimentale incentrato sulla Cardiologia  Pediatrica dell\u2019Azienda Ospedaliera Brotzu come centro di alta  specializzazione, l\u2019Azienda Mista di Cagliari (patologia neonatale e  puericultura) e l\u2019Azienda Ospedaliera N.4 di Lanusei (cardiologia) come  centri periferici. \n<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> In the COHERENT project, six leading European organisations provide complementary competencies to create a new networked holographic audio-visual platform to support real-time collaborative 3D interaction between geographically distributed teams. The display component will be based on innovative holographic techniques that can present, at natural human interaction scale, realistic animated 3D images to an unlimited number of freely moving simultaneous viewers. The design of the basic networked audiovisual components will be driven by two innovative demanding applications - a collaborative medical visualisation system and a collaborative design review system for the automotive industry - that will constitute by themselves an advancement of the state of the art in their specific domains. Both applications will provide intuitive access and interaction with shared 3D models through a sensory rich 3D user interface based on non-intrusive wireless interaction devices and offering 3D audio cues. Research will strongly concentrate on enabling technology for intuitive multi user access and interaction with complex 3D signals and objects. This project proposes to build a working high-resolution display in the one metre size range that, thanks to its human scale work area, will be ideally suited for multi-user collaborative working in true 3D. The challenge of providing the large visualisation data flow needed to drive such a device will be met using a cost-effective parallel solution based on commercial-off-the-shelf graphics and computing technology. Using GEANT, the pan-European Gigabit Research Network, the project will conduct distributed testing and validation of the system concepts for the two representative application scenarios. The research will be conducted in a 30-month schedule, to guarantee evaluation and demonstration of tangible results. Rapidly evolving advances in networked audiovisual communication technology are facilitating the emergence of computer-supported collaborative work (CSCW) systems. These systems are striving to seamlessly support collaboration between geographically distant teams for the purpose of achieving higher levels of participation, productivity, and creativity. They therefore address a major societal and economic challenge. Since visualisation is one of the most natural and intuitive ways to exchange information between humans, it has become the principal medium used in co-operative and multi-user situations. At the present time, however, state of the art collaborative real-time audiovisual systems typically rely on essentially 2D environments (traditional flat screens) to share information. For many professional applications, however, the main goal is to share the physical 3D object of common interest. These applications typically include clinical discussions among teams of medical specialists, multi-disciplinary scientific debate, design reviews between OEM's and suppliers using computer aided design (CAD), where the objects may be anatomical, molecular and product models respectively. Since these are almost exclusively very complex 3D objects, providing collaborative environments able to process, transmit and display 3D data in ways that match human perceptual abilities is therefore of primary importance and would represent a significant technology breakthrough. However, at present the only computer displays able to provide all the depth cues processed by the human brain to reconstruct a three-dimensional scene are unfortunately limited to single user configurations. Quite ironically, these limitations have led to networked solutions that facilitate remote collaboration only at the expense of the isolation of each participant from their local physical environment. The technical feasibility of the proposed holographic display solution has been recently demonstrated with the development of a ''small scale'' proof-of-concept, using white light based, 24 bit true colour, holographic 3D display. This project proposes to build on this earlier success to produce a working high-resolution display in the one metre size range that, thanks to its human scale work area, will be ideally suited for multi-user collaborative working in true 3D. The challenge of providing the large visualisation data flow needed to drive such a device will be met using a cost-effective parallel solution based on commercial-off-the-shelf graphics and computing technology. The driving applications have been chosen in two important sectors where collaborative 3D technology and networked audiovisual communication have a clear potential impact and provide a sizeable market for the future exploitation of the project results. Moreover, the need for distant teams to work together for a collaborative goal is becoming increasingly common in many industrial and social situations. Therefore, the best practice and methods opened-up by this project will have implications in other application domains. In particular, they will concern high potential, industry-driven domains such as next generation 3D-TV, electronic cinema, virtual and tele-presence and future mixed-reality-based communication services. The consortium has centred the project workplan around continuous and detailed end-user involvement in the research, development, evaluation, and validation activities. The end-users will also play an instrumental role in reaching their larger community as part of the dissemination and exploitation strategy.
