ArcSWAT course information

This course is designed to introduce new users to the SWAT model, review necessary and optional inputs, and familiarize the user with the ArcGIS interfaces. It is assumed that attendees have a working knowledge of ArcGIS. The two-day summer school will not review basic concepts on ArcGIS usage prior to covering the SWAT/ArcGIS interface.

- Welcome - Introductions
- Model overview (theory)
- Model applications (theory)
- Introduction to SWAT/ArcGIS interface (GIS)
- Watershed delineation
- Landuse and soil overlay
- Discussion (16:30 - 17:20) [scheduled if necessary to meet the demand for additional feedback]
- HRU delineation
- Weather and remaining inputs to develop the SWAT model (including point sources)
- Finish SWAT simulation using ArcSWAT
- Review of summary outputs
- Visualization and interpretation of SWAT outputs through VizSWAT
- Introduction of calibration and validation techniques (theory)
- Discussion (16:30 - 17:20) [scheduled if necessary to meet the demand for additional feedback]
These are interactive courses and practical participation is required.
- Desktop computers will be available in the classroom (2 people share a computer) or participants may use their own laptop computers in the classroom.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop with projects for debugging.
- install Arcgis 10.2.2 or 10.1 w SP1 and ArcSWAT for the corresponding version: http://swat.tamu.edu/software/arcswat/.
