Environmental applications and information systems

The "Environmental applications and information systems" Group is focused on the study and development of highly scalable information systems and applications applyed to the environment field; on multidimensional geographics data handle, acquisition, analisis and modelling through computational system, image processing and pattern recognition even on dedicate HW.
The treathment of geographycal data is completed by the research of new HW/SW systems dedicated to the acquisition of data; integrated GIS systems; data retrieval on images, and develop the right link between HPC and embedded systems.

Currently the application fields and the analyzed projects are the following:

  • optimization of image detection systems on embedded devices, using GPGPU technologies and hybrid CPU/GPU/DSP/FPGA;
  • architectures and framework implementation for development of WEB and GIS Applications;
  • implementation of innovative and scalable client/server GIS infrastructure for real-time rendering;
  • development of systems for the automatic classification and pattern recognition;
  • SmartCity applications for the return and analysis of measure campaign coming from sensoring and "Smart Utility and Mobile Laboratory in Vehicle for Mapping System".
