Advanced Genomics Computing Technology

The Advanced Genomics Computing Technology (AGCT) is a research and development grup focused on Computational Genomics.

CRS4 is involved in a several genomics projects, including a project holding the sequencing of the DNA of ~3,500 Sardinians. This set of genomes is currently used as a reference panel for imputation of sardinian-specific variants in several Genome Wide Association Studies (GWAS).
Those studies, cunducted in collaboration with several national and international partners, aim to investigate the role of genes underlying the autoimmune diseases pathogenesis, and are now focused on Type 1 Diabetes and Multiple Sclerosis, which are remarkably frequent in Sardinia.

The AGCT group's main activities are:

  • design and development of computational tools for genomics data handling and processing;
  • performing quality control and statistical analysis of genotyping and sequenced data.
