On June 11, 2013, the venerable Dr. Dobb's Journal reviewed Pydoop on its website. Pydoop, an open source software library for developing Python applications on the popular Hadoop distributed computing platform, is one of CRS4’s contributions to the Big Data community.
Since its first release in 2009, Pydoop has received about 12000 downloads (5000 in the last six months), roughly equally divided between Sourceforge and PyPI, the official third-party Python software repository. Besides serving as CRS4’s main workhorse for distributed computational biology, Pydoop is used in a number of external research projects as well as in successful commercial services such as Slacker Radio.
