Fabrizio Murgia will attend the International conference ICL2018 – The Challenges of the Digital Transformation in Education (21th International Conference on Interactive Collaborative Learning and 47th IGIP International Conference on Engineering Pedagogy), presenting the paper "School Without Walls, Expanding School Curricula Outside the School Walls with an Innovative Education Tool" (authors: Carole Salis, Marie Florence Wilson, Stefano Leone Monni, Franco Atzori, Giuliana Brunetti, Fabrizio Murgia), in the "Ubiquitous Learning Environments" session.
School Without Walls (SWW) is a tool that extends the learning area beyond classrooms or school walls, to include our everyday surroundings. Through the use of new technologies, in particular that of Augmented Reality (AR), SWW intends to draw pupils attention to the existing links between real life and topics covered in school programs. Through their mobile devices and an Augmented Reality App students will access the Educational content. A first testing phase was conducted during the third and final year of the "Tutti a Iscol@" project. A new and more extended testing phase will be carried out during the new project of the Educational Technology group of CRS4 - IDEA - to start soon.
The ICL conference will be held in Kos Island, Greece, from 25th to 28th September 2018. It is an interdisciplinary conference that aims to focus on the exchange of relevant trends and research results as well as the presentation of practical experiences in Interactive Collaborative Learning and Engineering Pedagogy.
