CRS4 Visual Computing presented a novel technique to reconstruct 3D floorplans from images

Pacific Graphics is one of the major international conferences in computer graphics. At the 2019 event, held in Seoul, 14th-18th October 2019, the CRS4 Visual Computing group introduced a novel technique to automatically reconstruct a 3D model of a large indoor scene from a small set of panoramic images. Such approach combines image scene-understanding with multi-view geometry to return a structured 3D model, including rooms subdivision and major objects inside. The work has been presented by Giovanni Pintore.

The conference proceedings of Pacific Graphics 2019 are published as an issue of the Eurographics journal Computer Graphics Forum (CGF), in print and online.

The details of the method are available in the following publication:

Giovanni Pintore, Fabio Ganovelli, Alberto Jaspe Villanueva, and Enrico Gobbetti. Automatic modeling of cluttered multi-room floor plans from panoramic images. Computers Graphics Forum, 38(7), 2019.
