| Activities of the AreaGeographic Information Systems (GIS) are essential for organizing and manipulating any form of spatially distributed data. The data can originate from maps, aerial photos, satellites, ground surveys, and traditional databases. Geographic information systems are being used at CRS4 in a host of regional (Sardinian) initiatives related to urban, industrial, and natural resources management and planning, and as a support tool for managing, processing, and analyzing the large volumes of environmental data connected also to our hydrologic modeling projects.
